Marcelo Garcia became involved with the Crypto sector back in 2013 while assessing development opportunities for the government of a Caribbean country interested in economic diversification. He acted as the CEO of one of the earliest and most innovative companies of the industry between 2014-15 and is currently advising the government of a Gulf country on Blockchain technologies.

His lifelong background in pioneering Telecommunications initiatives lead to the creation of BroadLights.org, a Swiss non profit NGO making internet access affordable in the most vulnerable communities in the world. As one of the United Nations experts in Smart Cities, he is keenly interested in promoting sustainable applications of Blockchain for Development worldwide – a task empowered by his role as co-founder of CryptoExplorers.org, where he focuses on connecting the multiple actors active in this domain to foster leading initiatives with potential for large scale global impact.
