Ripple’s annual University Blockchain Research Initiative (UBRI) has been praised by the company’s chief legal officer for its impact in the blockchain industry. The UBRI program aims to bring together scholars and researchers to discuss blockchain technology and showcase their initiatives using the technology.

Stuart Alderoty, Ripple’s Chief Legal Officer, spoke at this year’s UBRI event and commended the caliber of talent present. While his panel focused on the need for regulatory clarity in the crypto space, Alderoty expressed his admiration for the UBRI program in a post on X (formerly Twitter). He highlighted the program’s ability to gather global blockchain and engineering academic talent.

Alderoty also thanked Prof. George Mocsary of the Wyoming School of Law for hosting a panel on the role of regulations in the crypto space during the event.

The UBRI program is an initiative by Ripple to nurture blockchain talent and encourage students to explore the technology, particularly using Ripple’s XRP Ledger. It has connected more than 45 universities across 20 countries and has committed $11 million in funding for blockchain-based research and development efforts. Since its launch in 2018, participants have engaged in over 1020 academic blockchain research projects.

This year’s UBRI event focuses on the latest trends in the blockchain space, including central bank digital currencies (CBDCs), decentralized finance (DeFi), and tokenization. It is hosted in Toronto and features leading European universities like the University of Trento, Trinity College Dublin, IE Madrid, and EPITA.

The UBRI program has proven to be a valuable platform for fostering talent and innovation in the blockchain industry. By bringing together scholars, researchers, and industry professionals, it facilitates the exchange of ideas and drives advancements in blockchain technology.

In conclusion, Ripple’s UBRI program continues to make a positive impact in the blockchain industry by nurturing talent and fostering innovation. It serves as a platform for collaboration and knowledge sharing, bringing together academic talent from around the world. The program’s commitment to funding research and development efforts underscores Ripple’s dedication to advancing the blockchain ecosystem.
