Brave, Zcash (ZEC) developer Electric Coin Company (ECC), and Filecoin Foundation have recently announced a partnership aimed at bringing new privacy features to the Brave browser. This collaboration was unveiled during Messari Mainnet on September 22.

Brave Software Inc., ECC, and Filecoin Foundation will be working together with the goal of integrating Zcash protocol’s shielded transactions and Filecoin’s InterPlanetary File System (IPFS) into the Brave browser. Zcash is a well-known privacy coin in the cryptocurrency space.

The companies involved in this partnership have stated that the innovative privacy-focused features will also be accessible through Brave’s integrated Web3 wallet. Brave is a privacy-oriented browser that rewards users with Basic Attention Token (BAT) for accepting privacy-respecting ads. With this partnership, the privacy functionality of the browser will be extended to all transactions.

ECC, which recently highlighted its plans to enhance the decentralization and security of Zcash, will collaborate with Brave to integrate shielded transactions with the browser’s built-in crypto wallet. This integration will allow users to enjoy private transactions when storing, sending, and receiving ZEC and other cryptocurrencies.

Zooko Wilcox, CEO of Electric Coin Co., expressed his excitement about integrating Zcash into the Brave web browser, emphasizing the importance of privacy. He believes that privacy should be a normal aspect of online activities like communication, web browsing, shopping, and more. Wilcox stated, “This gives them access to money that respects their security and consent.”

In addition to private crypto transactions, the partnership between Brave, ECC, and Filecoin Foundation will also focus on developing a decentralized messaging and media transmission feature. This feature will leverage the privacy capabilities of the Zcash protocol and the secure storage of encrypted content provided by Filecoin’s IPFS.

Overall, this partnership aims to enhance privacy and security for Brave browser users. By integrating Zcash’s shielded transactions and leveraging Filecoin’s IPFS, the Brave browser will offer enhanced privacy features and provide users with a tool that respects their security and consent. The collaboration between Brave, ECC, and Filecoin Foundation brings together expertise in privacy-focused technologies and decentralized systems, paving the way for a more private and secure browsing experience.
